Liftoff 23

Liftoff is the Spring Exhibition for the School of Design at the University of the Arts. This annual exhibition features the senior capstone projects from all departments within the UArts School of Design.

Our team was responsible for fully developing and creating Liftoff 23. The scope of the project included designing and producing all aspects of the brand’s visual design to fabrication, material selection and installation.

Early our design process, we envisioned Liftoff as a powerful announcement - that new, innovative and disruptive thinkers are entering into the professional creative world, ready to make their mark and create change. By interplaying disruptive 3-dimensional elements with structured 2-dimensional compositions, we built a visual language to convey these concepts of mold-breaking and innovative change.

To achieve this, we worked across and blended techniques between 3d and 2d software suites and explored new avenues of immersive media, such as projection mapping and AR.

Through the use of cut acrylic, we were able to expand and weave these visual motifs of disruption, dimension and refraction throughout the physical exhibition space.

Although the show is no longer on display at the Center for Architecture and Design in Philadelphia, a condensed version can still be viewed at UArts Hamilton Hall.
